Mind is the leading mental health Charity in Britain which provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding around mental health. Their main goal is to not give up helping until everyone experiencing mental health problems gets support and respect. Steven Fry, an English actor, broadcaster, comedian, director and writer is a mind president who is heavily involved with the charity. He suffers from bi-polar disorder and has previously spoken out about the struggles that he’s faced throughout his life dealing with mental health issues. He states in a video on Mind’s website that 1 in 4 people in Britain alone face mental health problems in one given year. He also states that the most common cause of death in under 35-year-old men is suicide. Having a public figure like Steven in and amongst the charity is extremely beneficial because he acts as a catalyst in spreading awareness for the charity. They state that for every £1 in donations received, 88p of it goes towards their charitable work. In 2019-2020, they answered 119,000 individual phone calls on their helpline and 18 million people accessed their information.
